# What You'll Need:

→ Pastry

01 - 2 sheets (17.6 oz) ready-made puff pastry, thawed if frozen
02 - 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

→ Apple Filling

03 - 2 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
04 - 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
05 - 1 tablespoon brown sugar
06 - 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
07 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
08 - 1 teaspoon lemon juice
09 - 1 teaspoon cornstarch

→ Decoration (Optional)

10 - Pearl sugar or coarse sanding sugar
11 - Icing (powdered sugar mixed with a small amount of milk)

# Cooking Steps:

01 - Set the oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
02 - In a medium bowl, mix diced apples with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Set aside to meld flavors.
03 - On a lightly floured surface, roll out puff pastry sheets. Use a mitten-shaped cookie cutter or template and a sharp knife to cut 16 mitten shapes.
04 - Arrange 8 mitten shapes on the prepared baking sheet. Place a heaping tablespoon of apple filling in the center of each, leaving edges clear.
05 - Brush pastry edges with beaten egg. Top each filled base with a second mitten cutout and gently press the edges with a fork to seal.
06 - Brush the tops with egg wash. Optionally, sprinkle with pearl or sanding sugar for added texture.
07 - Make a small vent in the top of each pie using a knife. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes until golden and puffed.
08 - Allow pies to cool slightly, then optionally drizzle with icing for an elegant finish.
